Clean Water Projects
The primary purpose of a Lake Improvement District is to preserve the natural character of the lakes and their shoreline environment where feasible and practical. LLID works with state and county governmental bodies to affect water and related land resource programs. A primary organization LLID works with is the Soil and Water Conservation District. In partnership with the West Otter Tail Soil and Water Conservation District, LLID completed the Moonlight Bay Clean Water Project. This project consisted of developing a filtration system to limit inflow risk of agricultural runoff into South Lida. Aaron Larsen, manager of the West Otter Tail Soil and Water Conservation provided details of this clean water project at the 2025 Annual Meeting.
